Restaurants share coupon codes on their store page, in WhatsApp messages, on flyers and on social media. Here is how to use one, how automatic offers work, and the usual reasons a code does not go through.

Entering a code on the store page

  1. Add your items to the cart and go to checkout.
  2. Look for the coupon or promo code field. It usually sits near the order total, above the payment options.
  3. Type the code exactly as it was shared, without spaces. Extra characters will stop it from matching.
  4. Tap Apply. If the code is valid, the discount shows as a separate line and the total updates.
  5. Finish checkout as usual. Your order summary shows the discounted total.

If you are ordering in the WhatsApp chat rather than on the store page, how codes are entered depends on the store. The simplest way is to message the code to the restaurant along with your order and ask them to apply it.

Offers that apply automatically

Some offers do not need a code at all. The restaurant can set an offer to apply on its own when your cart qualifies, for example 10 percent off on orders above 500 rupees, or free delivery above a certain amount in your delivery zone. When this happens you will see the discount appear at checkout without typing anything.

Automatic offers are usually announced on a banner at the top of the store page. If you see a banner but no discount, check the conditions on the banner: a minimum order value, specific items, or a time window are common.

Why a coupon may not apply

  • Minimum order not met. Most codes need the cart to reach a certain amount before discounts and delivery charges. Add an item and try again.
  • Expired or not started yet. Codes have start and end dates. Check the message where you found it.
  • Usage limit reached. Some codes work once per customer, or for a fixed number of total uses.
  • Not valid for this order type. A code may be for delivery only, pickup only or dine-in only.
  • Typo. Compare the code letter by letter. A zero and the letter O look similar.
  • Only one offer per order. If an automatic offer is already applied, a second code may not stack on top of it. Depends on the store.

If none of these explain it, message the restaurant in the chat with the code and a screenshot of your cart. They can tell you what the code's conditions are or apply the discount by hand.

Common questions

Can I use a coupon on cash on delivery orders?

Depends on the store. Some codes are limited to online payment. If the discount disappears when you switch to cash on delivery, that is the reason.

I forgot to apply my code. Can I get the discount later?

Reply in the chat right away with the code and your order number. If the order has not been prepared yet, the restaurant can decide to adjust it. Once it is delivered, it is up to the store whether to honour it on your next order.

Can I use a coupon at the table or for pickup?

If the checkout page shows a coupon field, yes, as long as the code is valid for that order type. Some codes are made for delivery orders only, so a dine-in or pickup order may not qualify.
