Ordered the wrong item, forgot to add something, or need to cancel altogether? The quickest fix is to reply in the same WhatsApp chat where you placed the order. The restaurant sees your message next to the order and can act on it. Timing matters: what you can change depends on how far along the order is.

How to ask for a change

  1. Open the chat with the restaurant and find your order confirmation. Note the order number.
  2. Reply with the order number and exactly what you want: "Order 1234: please make the paneer tikka 2 instead of 1" or "Order 1234: please cancel".
  3. Wait for the restaurant to confirm. They may reply with an updated summary or a new total. Do not assume the change is done until they say so.
  4. If the change affects the amount you paid, the store will tell you how the difference is handled, as described below.

Do not place a second order to "fix" the first one unless the store asks you to. That usually leads to two orders being prepared.

What can and cannot be changed

Before the kitchen starts (status still "received" or "confirmed"): almost anything can be changed. Add or remove items, fix the address, switch from delivery to pickup if the store offers it, or cancel outright. The restaurant has not spent anything yet, so most stores are flexible here.

Once the status is "preparing": food is being cooked. Most stores will not cancel or remove items at this point, because the ingredients are already used. You can usually still add items, fix a landmark in the address or add a note for the rider.

Once it is "out for delivery": only the delivery details can change, and only if the rider can still reach the new location. Cancelling at this stage is rarely accepted.

These are typical rules. The final decision rests with the restaurant, and each store sets its own cancellation policy. Ask in the chat if you are unsure.

Refunds

If you paid online and the restaurant cancels your order, or accepts your cancellation, the refund goes back to the same UPI account or card you paid with. Refund timing depends on your bank and payment app; it is usually a few working days, and the store cannot speed it up once it is issued.

If you paid cash on delivery and cancel before the order leaves, there is nothing to refund. If you reduce the order, you simply pay the new total to the rider.

If the restaurant adds items to a prepaid order, they will tell you how to pay the difference: often a fresh payment link in the chat, or cash to the rider.

Common questions

I entered the wrong phone number or address. What do I do?

Reply in the chat immediately with the correct details and your order number. If the status is still "received", this is a simple fix. If the rider has already left, the store will try to redirect them but cannot promise it.

The restaurant cancelled my order. Why?

Usually because an item ran out, your address is outside their delivery area, or they could not reach you to confirm. If you paid online, the store refunds you to the same payment method. If you want the rest of the order, reply and they can place it again.

Can I cancel from the store page?

Cancellation requests go through the WhatsApp chat, not the store page. Use the chat so the restaurant team sees the request next to your order.
