Feedback request messages after an order

Feedback request message templates for WhatsApp in English and Hindi: one-tap ratings, first orders, new dishes, packaging, tiffin menus and events.

Each template has an English and a Hindi version. Tap Copy, paste into WhatsApp, replace the words in square brackets.

A feedback request message asks a customer one or two private questions about an order so you can fix things, which is different from a public review that other people read. Restaurants, cloud kitchens, tiffin services and home bakers send it after a first order, after a menu change, or once a month to regulars. What makes it work is asking one specific question the customer can answer with a number or a single word, in the same chat they ordered on. "Any feedback?" gets silence. "Was the biryani spicy enough, 1 to 5?" gets answers you can act on.

Ask one question, two at most, and make the first one answerable with a number or a word. Send it an hour or two after delivery for meals and the next day for cakes and catering. Do not ask after every order; first orders, new dishes and a monthly check with regulars are enough. Say what you will do with the answer, and then do it. A feedback request about an order the customer just received is a service message and needs no opt-out line. Questions sent to customers who have not ordered recently, or that come with a coupon, are marketing, so send those only to people who agreed to hear from you and add an opt-out line. If you want a public rating rather than private input, use the review request messages.

One-number rating after delivery

Hi [Name], how was your order [Order ID] from [Restaurant]? Reply with a number from 1 to 5, where 5 is very good. If anything was off, add a word on what it was. We read every reply.

After a first order (would you order it again)

Hi [Name], thank you for trying [Restaurant] for the first time. One quick question: would you order the same thing again? Reply YES or NO, and if NO, tell us what you would change. That one answer helps us more than any rating.

New dish (keep it or drop it)

Hi [Name], you were one of the first to try our new [Dish]. Was it right on spice, portion and price? Reply OK, or tell us the one thing that was off. We decide this week whether it stays on the menu.

Delivery and packaging check

Hi [Name], a quick check on order [Order ID]: did the food arrive hot and the packaging intact? Reply HOT, WARM or COLD. We are trying new containers and your answer tells us whether they work.

Tiffin subscriber (monthly menu check)

Hi [Name], you have been with our tiffin for [Months] months now. Which one dish from this month would you drop, and which would you like more often? Two names are enough. We plan next month's menu on [Date].

Dine-in (after the visit)

Hi [Name], thank you for dining at [Restaurant] today. How was the service at your table, 1 to 5? If something took too long or was missing, tell us here and the manager will see it tonight.

Catering or bulk order (after the event)

Hi [Name], thank you for choosing [Restaurant] for [Event]. Could you score three things out of 5: food, quantity and service? For example, 5, 4, 5. If any dish ran short or was left over, please tell us which one.

Regular who has gone quiet (no offer)

Hi [Name], we noticed you have not ordered from [Restaurant] since [Month]. No offer in this message, just one question: did we get something wrong? A one-line reply would really help. If you moved or your routine changed, that is fine too. Reply STOP to opt out.

Quick menu poll (planning a new item)

Hi [Name], we are planning a [Option] of [Dish] for one person. Would you order it at ₹[Price]? Reply YES, MAYBE or NO. Your answer goes straight into the decision. Reply STOP to opt out.

Closing the loop (what you changed after feedback)

Hi [Name], last month you told us the [Dish] was [Issue]. We have since [Change]. Thank you for saying it. If you try it again, we would like to know whether it is better.

Tips for sending these on WhatsApp

  • Ask for replies you can count. Numbers and keywords such as 1 to 5, YES or NO, HOT or COLD can be tallied in a sheet at the end of the week; paragraphs cannot.
  • Let ratings and questions do different jobs. On Tezzu, customers can leave order reviews and ratings after delivery, which leaves your WhatsApp feedback messages free for the one specific question you need answered this week.
  • Reply to every low score within a day. The negative review follow-up messages cover what to say. Automated feedback collection explains how to make the asking routine.
  • Close the loop. When you change something because of feedback, tell the people who raised it. It can be the nudge that brings a quiet customer back, and why customers stop ordering shows how to spot the ones worth asking.

Frequently asked questions

What is a good feedback request message for customers?

A short message with one specific question the customer can answer in a word or a number, sent in the chat they ordered on. "How was the dal makhani, 1 to 5?" works better than "Please share your feedback". Thank them, ask the question, say what you will do with the answer, and keep it to three lines. Leave offers out unless you are treating it as a marketing message.

How is a feedback request different from a review request?

A feedback request is private and asks a specific question so you can improve, such as whether the food arrived hot. A review request asks for a public rating that other customers will see, on your store or on Google. Use feedback requests to find problems and review requests once you are confident the order went well for most customers.

How often should I ask customers for feedback?

Not after every order. Ask after a customer's first order, after they try a new dish, and once a month for tiffin subscribers and other regulars. More than that starts to feel like homework, and the replies dry up. If you get a low score, follow up personally; a single conversation teaches you more than ten unread surveys.
