How it is calculated
Cost per meal
Ingredients, packaging, the rider cost divided by meals on the route, the cooking labour per meal, and a share of gas, rent and other overhead.
Price per meal
Cost divided by one minus the target margin. A ₹91 meal at a 25 percent margin is priced at ₹121.
Monthly plan
Price per meal times billable meals, where billable meals are delivery days minus the free skip days you allow. Profit is the margin per meal times billable meals times subscribers.
Frequently asked questions
How many skip days should a tiffin plan allow?
Two to four a month is common. Each free skip day is a meal you do not sell but may have planned for, so either price it in, as this calculator does, or offer skip days as a credit against the next month rather than a refund.
Should delivery be a separate charge?
For a daily plan it is simpler to build delivery into the meal price and offer a pickup discount for customers who collect. Separate delivery charges work better for one-off orders than for subscriptions.
How do I collect monthly payments without chasing?
Sell the plan as a single prepaid item with UPI or card, send a reminder a few days before it ends, and keep cash on delivery for trial meals only. The tiffin guides below cover the routine.
