How to Set Up WhatsApp Ordering With Tezzu in 15 Minutes

A basic Tezzu setup takes about 15 minutes: create an account, connect your WhatsApp number through Meta's embedded signup, add a first version of your menu, and place a test order from your own phone. The full setup, with online payments, delivery zones, printing and staff logins, takes about 30 minutes, and most of that is waiting for Razorpay KYC rather than clicking.

This guide is the 15-minute version, timed step by step, followed by a short list of what to do in the next half hour. It assumes you have a WhatsApp number you can receive an OTP on and a menu you can type from, even if it is a photo of the printed one.

What to have ready before you start

You will move faster if these are on the table before you open the browser.

  • The phone number you want customers to message. It can be your existing business number. If it is currently active on the WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business app, you will need to delete that account from the app first, because Meta does not allow the same number on the app and the API at the same time. A fresh SIM is the simplest option if you do not want to touch your current number today.
  • A Meta (Facebook) account you can log into, for the embedded signup.
  • Your menu: names, prices, and for each item any sizes or add-ons. A printed menu or a photo is enough.
  • Your logo and one banner image, optional.
  • For later: PAN, bank account details and a business proof document for Razorpay activation, and your GST number if you issue GST bills.

Minute 0 to 3: Create your account and start the trial

Go to the registration page, enter your business name, email and phone, and choose a plan. Every plan starts with a 7-day free trial, so you can start on Starter at ₹999 a month and change later. Pick a store name carefully: it becomes your free store page address at tezzu.in/store/your-name, and it is the link you will put on Instagram and Google.

Tezzu works in Hindi and English, so pick the language your team is comfortable with. Decide early whether you will offer delivery, self-pickup, dine-in or a mix, because that determines which of the later settings matter; all of them can be changed afterwards.

Minute 3 to 7: Connect your WhatsApp number

From the dashboard, start the WhatsApp connection. Tezzu uses Meta's embedded signup, which opens a Meta window where you log in, pick or create a business portfolio, enter the number, and verify it with an OTP by SMS or call. You keep ownership of the number; Tezzu is connected to it as the ordering system.

Set a display name that matches your business name as customers know it, because Meta reviews it. When the window closes, the dashboard shows the number as connected. Send "hi" from your personal phone to that number. The bot should reply with a greeting and your (still empty) menu. If it does not, the embedded signup guide lists the common causes and fixes.

Minute 7 to 12: Add a first version of your menu

Do not aim for the complete menu in five minutes. Aim for two or three categories and your ten best-selling items, with correct prices. Add one item that has variants (half and full, or small and large) and one with add-ons, so you can see how those appear to a customer.

Each item needs a name and a price. Descriptions and photos help sales but can wait. If an item is out of stock today, mark it unavailable rather than deleting it. The remaining items, combos and bundles come in a second session; the menu setup guide covers categories, variants, add-ons and build-your-own bundles properly.

Set your opening hours before you leave this screen. The bot and the store page both use them, and a test order placed outside hours may be refused, which is confusing when you are trying to check that things work.

Minute 12 to 15: Place a test order and find it on the dashboard

From your personal phone, message the business number again. Pick an item, choose a variant, add a quantity, and go through to checkout. Choose cash on delivery for this first order, since online payments are not on yet. Enter an address when asked.

Now look at the dashboard. The order should be there with an order number, the items, the total and the delivery type, and the bot should have sent you an order confirmation on WhatsApp. Change the status to accepted, then preparing, and watch the status messages arrive on your phone. That round trip is the whole product: a customer orders in chat, you manage it in the dashboard, they are kept informed automatically.

Also open the same store from the browser at tezzu.in/store/your-name and place an order there. Both channels feed the same dashboard.

What to set up in the next 30 minutes

With the basic Tezzu whatsapp ordering setup working, the following items turn it into something you can announce to customers. Each links to its own guide where there is one.

SettingTimeWhy it matters
Online payments via Razorpay10 min to apply, KYC takes daysUPI and card payments confirm themselves; no screenshots to check
Delivery zones and charges10 minDistance-based charges and minimum orders stop you losing money on far deliveries
Self-pickup points3 minLets customers collect, with no delivery charge and no rider
GST details and bill format5 minBills and KOTs print correctly from day one
Thermal printer5 minKitchen gets a paper KOT instead of reading a phone
Staff logins and the staff app5 min per personNew-order alerts ring in the kitchen and at the counter, with roles controlling who sees what
Complete menu, combos, photos30 to 90 minAverage order value rises with photos and bundles
Store page banner and a first coupon5 minGives customers a reason to try the new link this week

Start with payments, because the KYC clock runs in the background. The Razorpay setup guide lists exactly which documents to upload.

What the finished setup looks like on Tezzu

After the first session you have one WhatsApp number that answers customers with a menu and takes orders, a free store page with the same menu, and a live dashboard where every order arrives with its payment status and delivery type. The staff app on a kitchen phone rings for each new order, with a spoken announcement in Hindi or English if you enable it.

From the dashboard you manage order status, print KOTs and GST bills, see revenue and customer insights, and send WhatsApp campaigns from a prepaid wallet. Pricing stays simple: your plan (₹999, ₹1,999 or ₹3,999 a month, with ₹100 a month off on yearly billing) plus a flat ₹10 per order, unlimited orders, and no commission on the order value. The pricing explainer shows what each plan adds.

The longer, screen-by-screen version of this process, including delivery zones, campaigns and dine-in, is the Tezzu setup playbook.

Frequently asked questions

How long does Tezzu onboarding take in total?

About 15 minutes to a working test order, and about 30 minutes of actual work for the full setup with zones, pickup points, printing and staff logins. The one thing you cannot speed up is Razorpay KYC for online payments, which takes a few working days, so apply on day one and take cash on delivery orders in the meantime.

Can I use my existing WhatsApp number for Tezzu?

Yes. The number stays yours; Tezzu connects to it through Meta's embedded signup. If the number is currently active on the WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business app, delete that account from the app first, since Meta does not allow one number on both the app and the API. Many owners keep their personal number as is and put a new SIM on Tezzu.

Do customers need to download an app to order?

No. Customers order inside WhatsApp, which they already have, or on your store page in any browser. There is nothing to install, no account to create, and no password. Order confirmations and status updates arrive as WhatsApp messages. The only app in the setup is the staff app, which your team installs to receive new-order alerts.

What happens when the 7-day free trial ends?

Your plan starts billing at the monthly or yearly price you chose at signup, plus ₹10 per order. Orders are unlimited on every plan and there is no commission on order value. If you decide Tezzu is not for you during the trial, you can stop before billing begins, and your WhatsApp number stays yours.
